Try searching with one or two key words from the artist's name, the song title or even phrases from the song lyrics.
When you have found what you are looking for, click your mouse on the song title and a Music Download Window will open. Next, from the Music Download Window download the song by right clicking your mouse on the link title and select "Save Target as.." in Microsoft Explorer or "Save Link as.." in Netscape Navigator. Don't search for the actual URI unless you are certain of it's correct syntax. It is a hopeless guessing routine and it leaves the engine no option but to make an absolute decline
of your search if even one character in your search criteria is out of place. That includes misspelling.
Terminology
Bandwidth is the amount of data that can be transmitted in a fixed amount of time. Large files such as Music Videos can take a long time to transmit and receive. For digital devices, the bandwidth is usually expressed in bits per second(bps) or bytes per second. For analog devices, the bandwidth is expressed in cycles per second, or Hertz (Hz).
The bandwidth is particularly important for I/O devices. For example, a fast disk drive can be hampered by a bus with a low bandwidth. This is the main reason that new buses, such as 64-bit, 66mhz, 8X AGP, PCExpress, PCI-X etc. have been developed for the PC.
MegaByte - When used to describe data storage, 1,048,576 (2 to the 20th power) bytes. Megabyte is frequently abbreviated as M or MB. When used to describe data transfer rates, as in MBps, it refers to one million bytes.
Mb or MB - A million bits or a million bytes?
There is a huge difference between the two. That is especially true if
your internet connection provider says you have 3Mb per second download capability
and you seek to download a 3MB file. The song is in fact 8 times bigger than
your download speed per unit time. Why? A Mb is a million bits and a MB is
a million bytes while a bit is a single character of data (0 zero or 1 one) and
a byte is eight characters of data. Eight bits make one byte. Your computer
processes information in a series of eight bits, or, one byte. Megabit is
abbreviated with a lower case b (Mb) and megabyte is abbreviated with a
capital B (MB).
What is MP3?
*MPEG (see below) Audio Layer-3, popularly referred to as MP3, is a digital format for the encoding of audio data, developed through a joint effort of
Fraunhofer IIS, and the University of Erlangen in Germany. MP3 is simply a file format or, more specifically, an audio compression file format. The format employs an algorithm that
compresses the music file, achieving significant data reduction while retaining "near" CD-quality sound. A three-minute song that would require about 32 megabytes of disk space in its original form can
be compressed utilizing MP3 technology into a file of about 3 megs without a significant reduction in sound quality. Using modern fast internet connection, the
song can then be transmitted over the Internet quickly in minutes, rather than the long time that would be required had the file not first been compressed.
MP3 technology enables users to download, upload and store much more music than before. It is now possible for individuals to create virtual
libraries of all of their favorite tunes simply by downloading them from the Internet. They can "rip" MP3 files from their own CDs
using inexpensive or, in some cases, free software designed exclusively for that purpose. Users can then enjoy these files in a variety of ways. They can listen to them on portable MP3 players or directly from their
hard drives, they can send their files via email to other music fans, or they can upload their files to the Internet for anyone to enjoy. And
because the music is in digital form, each successive copy made of the sound file is of the same quality as its predecessor.
The revolutionary nature of the ISO-MPEG Audio Layer-3 algorithm lies in the perceptual coding technique which exploits the
understanding of the subjective faculty of human hearing and the mechanism of human auditory perception to evaluate how data can be compressed while retaining very high audio fidelity.
*MPEG is a compression standard for audio, video, and data established by the International Telecommunications Union and International Standards Organization. The MPEG-1 standard, established in 1992, is designed to produce reasonable quality images and sound at low bit rates (e.g., 352x288 images with VHS quality at 1.5 Mbits/sec). See the MPEG-1 FAQ. The MPEG-2 standard, established in 1994, is designed to produce higher quality images at higher bit rates (e.g., 720x480 studio quality CCIR-601 images at up to 15 Mbits/sec).
Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) a working group of ISO/IEC
in charge of the development of standards for coded representation of digital
audio and video. Established in 1988, the group has produced MPEG-1, the
standard on which such products as Video CD and MP3 are based, MPEG-2, the
standard on which such products as Digital Television set top boxes and DVD are
based, MPEG-4, the standard for multimedia for the fixed and mobile web, MPEG-7,
the standard for description and search of audio and visual content and
MPEG-21, the Multimedia Framework.
MPEG has recently started a number of new standard lines: MPEG-A
"Multimedia Application Format" provides application-specific
standards by integrating multiple MPEG technologies. MPEG-B, MPEG-C and MPEG-D
provide Systems, Video and Audio specific standards, respectively, and
MPEG-E "MPEG Multimedia Middleware" or M3W is the latest standard
under development that will support download and execution of multimedia
applications.
